FARAH, Afghanistan, July 24 (Xinhua) -- At least six people including four police and two militants have been confirmed dead as clash erupted in Darabad district of the western Farah province on Tuesday, provincial police spokesman Mohibullah Mohib said Wednesday.
The clash broke out after a group of Taliban insurgents attacked a security checkpoint in Sultan Mir area of Darabad district late Tuesday and police retaliated.
The clash lasted for a while and four police and two attacking militants were killed, the official said, adding four more militants and two police personnel were injured in the firefight.
Taliban militants who are active in parts of the relatively violent Farah province, are yet to make comment.
