BEIRUT, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah on Friday strongly rejected Britain's listing of the group as a terrorist group, local media reported.
"Hezbollah is not a terrorist group. The resistance has fought against Israeli occupation and no country has the right to label the party as a terrorist organization," Hezbollah said in a statement which was published by the National News Agency.
The statement said that Hezbollah was capable of freeing most of Lebanon's occupied territories through its resistance.
"We have protected our land from Israel's greed and its plan to steal our country's wealth and resources," Hezbollah said.
The British government has issued this decision in favor of the U.S. administration, it added.
"The British government is hostile to the people in our region to satisfy the rulers of Washington at the cost of the interests of Britain's people and its role and presence in the Middle East and the Islamic world," it said.
Hezbollah also vowed to continue to fight to protect Lebanon's sovereignty and independence.
The British Parliament announced Monday that it is set to pass new rules classifying Hezbollah as a terrorist group.
The British authorities said they are no longer able to distinguish between the group's military and political wings.
