WASHINGTON, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Guard Victor Oladipo scored 32 points to help the Indiana Pacers stun the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-80 in Game 1 of their playoffs first-round series on Sunday.
Oladipo also added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Myles Turner had 16 points and 8 rebounds, and Bojan Bogdanovic contributed 15 for the Pacers.
The Cavs were again relying too much on their superstar LeBron James who had 24 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds for Cleveland. J.R. Smith had 15 points. Center Kevin Love had 17 rebounds but only contributed 9 points.
The Pacers made 11-of-28 3-pointers, while the Cavs made just 8 of 34.
"We believe that we can win," Oladipo said. "We came into this game with a mentality that we wanted to attack on both ends of the floor and play the way we've been playing all year."
The two teams clashed against each other in last season's playoff opening round when Cleveland swept the Pacers 4-0, but this season seems to be a different story with the Cavs struggling all the time and the Pacers gathering momentum. Indiana compiled three wins and one loss in regular season against their nemesis.
Game 2 will be played on Wednesday in Cleveland.
