Local residents built houses and roads with stones, which makes it unique as a "stone village". It is surrounded by mountains, rivers and beautiful scenery. The village now has 370 households with a population of 1,000, of which 99.8 percent belongs to the Yi ethnic group. In recent years the local government has been boosting the village economy in green ways. The village used local natural and cultural resources to develop different kinds of industries such as rural tourism, planting and animal breeding. In 2018, all the poverty-stricken households in the village rose above the poverty level with the resident per capita net income exceeding 24,000 yuan (about 3,400 US dollars) per year.
