SINGAPORE, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- The 30th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) kicked off here Thursday night at the Capitol Theatre with the Singapore premiere of the film Wet Season, marking a bountiful line-up of events ahead.
Award-winning Singapore filmmaker Anthony Chen, who directed Wet Season, made his red carpet appearance at the event. He was joined by the rest of the cast of the film, which included actress Yeo Yann Yann, veteran theatre virtuoso Yang Shi Bin, and rising star Koh Jia Ler.
Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat graced the occasion as guest-of-honour.
As a leading international film festival in Southeast Asia, the 30th SGIFF will run from Nov. 21 to Dec. 1. This year, more than 90 films from over 40 different countries will be screened, on top of masterclasses and panel discussions. ■
