FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- At least 12 fighters including four security personnel and eight militants have been killed as the Taliban insurgents attacked security outposts in Nasai district of Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province on Saturday, provincial administration Spokesman Nik Mohammad Nazari said Sunday.
According to the official, the armed militants targeted some outposts in Nasai district on Saturday evening triggering gun battle, which has left 12 dead including four security personnel and eight attacking insurgents.
Fighting has been continuing and the security forces have been attempting to clear the area from the armed militants, the official said.
Taliban militants who have lost their bastions in the restive Wardoj, Yamgan and Kuran-wa-Munjan districts of Badakhshan province over the past couple of months have not made comments on the report yet.
