HANGZHOU, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Japanese consumer electronics retailer BicCamera on Wednesday launched its duty-free flagship store on Fliggy, Alibaba's online travel service provider, to expand business in the Chinese market.
Chinese travelers can buy goods on Fliggy at duty-free prices before departure and pick them up at the BicCamera stores in Japan within three to 30 days after payment.
BicCamera offers free delivery to hotels for purchases over 5,000 yen (46.4 U.S. dollars) and to the airport for purchases over 100,000 yen.
BicCamera has cooperated with Alibaba since 2015, launching Alipay, a leading mobile payment platform in China, in more than 200 of its stores.
The Japan-based duty-free stores welcome more than 100,000 Chinese consumers every month, according to BicCamera. The company will expand online cooperation with Fliggy and increase the number of pick-up stores to make it easier for Chinese consumers.
China has seen a boom in overseas tourism in recent years. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, about 150 million outbound trips were made in 2018, up 14.7 percent year on year, with Japan being one of the most popular destinations.
