VIENTIANE, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA)'s Z-8G rescue helicopter has attended the ongoing "Peace Train-2019" China-Laos humanitarian and medical joint rescue exercise, which was the first time for the copter to fly abroad to attend a joint health and logistic drill.
On Sunday, the exercise, held in the northern suburbs of Lao capital Vientiane, simulated a scene that a badly poisoned patient impaired by chemical plant leakage during a flood disaster, needed airlift and urgent treatment.

A Z-8G newly modified ambulance helicopter soon landed next to the improvised tent hospital. After cleaning and disinfection, the China-Laos joint Forces immediately carried the patient on to the helicopter, to be transported to the hospital for better treatment.
Airlifting evacuation is a key factor for wounded armymen's transportation in wartime and plays an important role in improving the success rate of treatment, reducing the rate of injury and disability, and maintaining and improving the army's combat power.
As its international status continues to increase, China is undertaking more and more international peacekeeping and humanitarian relief tasks, thus helicopter emergency medical rescue will become an indispensable ability.
