ANKARA, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Sunday strongly condemned a deadly attack on a wedding ceremony in the Afghan capital of Kabul, which killed at least 63 and wounded 180 others.
"We strongly condemn this inhuman terrorist attack which targeted innocent people and wish ... speedy recovery to the wounded, and convey our condolences to the friendly government and the brotherly people of Afghanistan," said a ministry statement.
The blast occurred inside Shahr-e-Dubai wedding hall in Police District 6 of Kabul at 10:40 p.m. local time (1810 GMT) on Saturday when the hall was packed with guests attending the wedding ceremony of an Afghan couple.
The Islamic State (IS) militant group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, an Afghan media outlet reported.
Kabul, with a population of nearly 5 million, has been hit by a series of terror attacks over the past couple of years.
