HERAT, Afghanistan, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- A district governor and a security personnel were killed and five people wounded in a bomb attack in Afghanistan's western Herat province on Saturday, a local police official said.
"Shukrullah Shakir, the district chief of Zinda Jan, and a security guard were killed following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Tara Khil locality of Zinda Jan district at around midday," Farzad Forutan told Xinhua.
The police official said that five security personnel serving as district chief guards were wounded in the explosion in the district in the western part of provincial capital Herat city.
He blamed Taliban militant group for the bomb attack.
