NEW DELHI, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Monsoon has fallen on India's central and northern states, India's meteorological department (IMD) said Friday.
According to officials, conditions were becoming favorable for further advance of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of Haryana, Punjab and more parts of Rajasthan during next 72 hours.
"Southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Rajasthan, remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir (Indian-controlled Kashmir) and some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and entire Delhi," IMD said.
"Widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places very likely over west Madhya Pradesh, and east Rajasthan during next two days, northeast Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh during next four to five days."
Widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places is also likely over eastern states of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and north-eastern states from Saturday to Monday, officials said.
