PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Two fighters loyal to the Taliban group were killed and over a dozen injured as the government forces repulsed the insurgents' attack to take control of Guzargah-e-Noor district in northern Baghlan province, district chief Noor Mohammad Guzar said Friday.
Taliban militants launched massive attacks late on Thursday night to capture the headquarters of Guzargah-e-Noor district, but faced strong resistance from government forces and fled the ground after leaving behind two fighters dead and more than a dozen others injured.
The government forces are in full control of the situation in the district, the official further said.
Taliban militants who have made some advances in recent months and captured Qush Tepa district in the northern Jawzjan province few days ago are yet to make comment.
