HANGZHOU, May 5 (Xinhua) -- China's major cartoon and animation fair saw a record 1.43 million participants this year as it concluded Sunday in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.
The 15th China International Cartoon and Animation Festival (CICAF) drew over 2,645 enterprises from 86 countries and regions. U.S. cartoon heavyweight Disney attended the exhibition for the first time.
Nearly 3,500 business talks were held during the six-day event, leading to over 1,368 letters of intent and 29 deals, up 10 percent compared with last year, according to the event organizer.
The event registered a record amount of transactions worth 16.5 billion yuan (244.7 million U.S. dollars).
About a dozen domestic animations were featured in this year's CICAF. Last year, 34 Chinese-made animated films were screened in China, bringing in a total of 1.62 billion yuan, according to a report released during CICAF.
Beginning in 2005, the festival has been held in Hangzhou annually.
