DECODING ORACLE BONE SCRIPT
Chinese researchers have developed a numeral-based coding system to facilitate the search and study of oracle bone script, the oldest written Chinese language.
Around 160,000 pieces of oracle bones have been found in the world. Among the 4,300 characters inscribed on them, only 1,600 have been decoded. The researchers designed the coding system to assign a six-digit code to each oracle bone character.
ILLEGAL PARKING PROBE
Traffic police in Beijing are using a new device to record illegal parking without having to leave their vehicles. Thanks to the new system, the police can perform their duties with higher efficiency.
