RABAT, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Morocco has pledged to contribute financially to reconstruction of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, official MAP news agency reported Thursday.
This pledge was made by Moroccan Ambassador to France Chakib Benmoussa during his meeting with Archbishop of Paris, Michel Aupetit, MAP said, citing a statement from the Moroccan embassy in France.
A major fire on Monday engulfed the 850-year-old Gothic building Notre Dame Cathedral, resulting in the collapse of its spire and roof, but the main structure, including the two bell towers, has been saved.
