TOKYO, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning, tracking overnight gains on Wall Street after U.S. durable goods orders data for January released overnight bolstered sentiment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 141.04 points, or 0.66 percent, from Wednesday to 21,431.28.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 5.85 points, or 0.37 percent, at 1,597.92.
Oil and coal product, pulp and paper, and securities house-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
