BEIRUT, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese security forces arrested on Monday 13 Syrian nationals over illegal entry from Syria to Lebanon, the National News Agency reported.
The people, who were arrested in Taanayel town in Bekaa, included one woman and three children.
The arrested were transferred to a police station in Chtaura for further investigations and other legal procedures.
There are many reasons that could drive Syrians to Lebanon, including seeking education and attending interviews by European embassies.
The Lebanese government has barred the UN refugee agency from registering Syrian refugees without guarantors, work visas or visas for transit since 2015.
Such measures led to a rise in the number of Syrian refugees attempting to enter Lebanon illegally.
The Lebanese security forces have been trying to crack down on smuggling in areas close to the border with Syria.
