TOKYO, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks declined Wednesday morning as U.S. shares retreating overnight set a negative tone early on amid concerns over the outlook for the global economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 123.18 points, or 0.57 percent, from Tuesday to 21,603.10.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 3.01 points, or 0.19 percent, at 1,616.22.
Pharmaceutical, retail, and oil and coal product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
