BEIRUT, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali said Friday that Lebanon and Syria should cooperate in facing Israeli threats, local media reported.
"Lebanon and Syria have one common enemy and they should cooperate in facing its aggressions," Ali was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an online independent newspaper.
Ali said that Israel is very well aware today that Syria is capable of confronting its enemy.
"Syria is much powerful today than it was at the beginning of the war," he said.
Ali added that Israel's insistence on its aggressions against Syria is a clear indication that it has failed to reach its goals.
Israel carried out a series of airstrikes early Monday against Iranian targets in Syria in response to an Iranian missile fired at the Golan Heights.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck Iranian targets in and around Damascus, including the city's international airport, munitions depots, intelligence sites, a training camp and more.
