JAKARTA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- An official at Indonesian swimming sports association (PB PRSI) said on Friday that an Indonesian female swimmer, Azzahra Permatahani, has been qualified to take part in 2019 World Junior Swimming Championship slated for August in Budapest, Hungary.
"Azzahra booked a record of 2 minutes and 16.71 seconds in 200 meters freestyle. That figure also breaks national record," PB PRSI Deputy Chief Harlin Raharjo said in a statement.
He said the record was made by Azzahra in the 2nd Indonesia Open Aquatic Championship on Dec. 2 in Indonesia's landmark aquatic stadium of Gelora Bung Karno here, an event which was sanctioned by world's watersports administering body of Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA).
The record booked by the Indonesian junior female athlete was higher than the minimum limit of 2 minutes 16.97 seconds in women's freestyle group set by FINA for athletes eligible to take part in the championship scheduled from August 20 to 25, Harlin added.
