KABUL, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- An Afghan court imprisoned 15 suspects over smuggling drugs after investigating into 11 drugs-related cases, a statement said on Tuesday.
"During Central Narcotics Tribunal's primary and appellate court's open sessions over the last seven days, up to 15 suspects involved in 11 drug-related cases have been sentenced from one year and six months to 17 years in jail," Counter-Narcotics Criminal Justice Task Force of Afghanistan (CJTF) said in the statement.
The Central Narcotics Tribunal (CNT) is a special Afghan court for jurisdiction of major drug cases.
Up to 303 kg heroin, 51 kg of poppy opium, 449 kg hashish and 1 kg methamphetamine have been seized from the suspects, the statement noted.
