YANGON, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar sent 19,123 migrant workers abroad in October, according to the figures from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population Friday.
Of them, 15,172 workers went to neighbouring Thailand while 2,927 to Malaysia and the rest to Japan, South Korea, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Qatar respectively.
During the period, local employment was also offered over 21,590 workers, of which 20,792 were engaged in private sector.
Aiming to offer local and foreign employments to the workers, the ministry is accelerating efforts to create more employment opportunities.
