The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 18.71 points, or 1.10 percent, at 1,685.93.
Consumer credit, marine transportation and miscellaneous-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
