XI'AN, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Russia became the biggest winners of the first ever FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup, winning both the men's and women's basketball titles while hosts China did not make it beyond the last eight.
Russia overcame Latvia in Sunday's men's final while their women's counterparts beat Japan 21-12 to take the women's title.
China's men's team, ranking third FIBA's 3x3 Federation standings in September, entered the quarterfinals as group leaders but fell to Hungary 18-15.
Chinese women's team were stopped in the group stage.
Hungary eventually won the men's bronze medal, edging France 15-14. while Ukraine grabbed the women's bronze after defeating Germany 18-14.
