WASHINGTON, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- A man was bitten by an 11-foot (about 3.35 meters) alligator while playing disc golf at a park in southeastern U.S. state Florida on Monday, local media reported on Tuesday.
Richard Peel, 35, was bitten after trying to retrieve his disc from a pond at Cliff Stephens Park in Clearwater, Clearwater Fire Rescue officials said.
Rescuers ran over and formed a ladder with each other to pull him out to safety, witnesses told FOX 13 Tampa Bay.
"The alligator was seen prior to him going into the water, so we always recommend that people stay away from murky waters," Florida Wildlife Commission spokeswoman Ashley Tyer told the station.
Peel's injuries didn't appear to be life threatening, said the report.
Video on social media shows rescuers tying up the alligator and loading it onto a truck.
