CHENGDU, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The 17th Western China International Fair will be held in the city of Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province from Sept. 20 to 24.
Italy will be the Guest Country of Honor. Luigi Di Maio, deputy prime minister of Italy and minister of Economic Development, Labour and Social Policies will lead a delegation to attend the fair.
A series of Guest Country of Honor events including China-Italy food safety dialogue, a Sichuan-Italy industrial cooperation and investment conference, and a China-Italy culture and innovation summit will be held at the fair, said Niu Xiaofeng, an official with the organizing committee, at a press conference Wednesday.
So far, more than 50 Italian enterprises have confirmed to attend the fair, covering a wide range of fields including health, technology and innovation, clean energy, tourism, agriculture and food.
Cultural events, such as concerts, film screenings will also be held at the fair.
The fair is organized by China's National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
