TOKYO, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning tracking declines on Wall Street overnight and as the yen appreciated against the U.S. dollar as Japan and then U.S. held potentially thorny trade talks.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 104.06 points, or 0.46 percent, from Thursday to 22,494.33.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 9.77 points, or 0.56 percent, at 1,730.39.
Mining, metal product and precision instrument-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
