KAMPALA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Uganda defeated Nigeria by 181 runs in an international cricket U-19 build-up game here on Wednesday.
The hosts won the toss and batted first to put on 286/10 in 49.2/50 overs.
Nigeria's U-19 side led by Sulaiman Runeswe chased and collapsed at a miserable 108/10 in 37.1/50 overs.
Frank Akankwasa was Uganda's Man of the Match with a game high 86 runs, while Zephaniah Katungyi and Siraje Nsubuga picked 31 and 30 runs respectively.
Runeswe scored 24 runs for the visiting Nigerian side, while Segun Ogundipe picked 21 runs.
"This is a good test for our team and we are glad we have four more games with our Nigerian counterparts," Martin Ondeko, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA), told Xinhua after the game.
The Nigerian team decided to pitch a training camp in Uganda and also play five international build-up games as they prepare for the ICC Division 2 U-19 World Cup qualifiers to take place in South Africa later this month.
"We are happy that playing against a good Cricket playing nation like Uganda will help us improve in these few days as we travel to South Africa for the tournament," Nigeria's Jimoh Abdulrahman Adinoyi told Xinhua. Enditem
