WINDHOEK, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Debutants Namibia will lock horns with hosts Morocco in the quarterfinals of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals and coach Ricardo Mannetti said Tuesday that his team is ready to go further.
Namibia drew 1-1 against Zambia on Monday night and are slated to face Morocco at the Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca on Saturday Jan. 27 in the quarterfinals.
"We are sniffing the semifinals and we are not under pressure against Morocco. They are the hosts and the stadium will be full of their supporters. We will go out there as underdogs that we have been and enjoy ourselves," Mannetti said.
After guiding Namibia to wins over Uganda and Ivory Coast in Group B, Namibia booked a quarterfinals spot, a first for the southern African Nation and Manneti is of the view that the surprise package tag of his team will continue further as the tournament progresses.
"We have to see if we can spoil the hosts party on Saturday and I am sure we can if we play to our strengths yet again," he added.
The ongoing tournament sees Namibia's maiden appearance and Mannetti said the tournament is an ideal platform for his players to shine and be noticed on the continental as well as the international scene.
