XINING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Clean energy accounted for 75.2 percent of the energy mix in northwest China's Qinghai Province last year, local authorities said Tuesday.
Power plants generated a total of 61.6 billion kwh of electricity in 2017, up 11.4 percent year on year, said the provincial commission of economy and information technology.
The amount from coal-fired power plants rose slightly by 1.45 percent year on year to 15.3 billion kwh, it said. The amount from hydro, solar and wind power totaled 46.3 billion kwh.
The electricity generated by hydro, solar and wind power rose 9.9 percent, 25.9 percent and 76.8 percent, respectively.
To battle air pollution, China has been trying to improve its energy mix by reducing heavy reliance on coal and adding more clean energy generating capacity.
