LONDON, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- The late British Poet Helen Dunmore won the Costa Book Award for poetry for her final collection, Inside the Wave.
Dunmore was named Tuesday along with four other winners of the Costa Book Awards across five categories, namely, First Novel, Novel, Biography, Poetry and Children's Book.
The five winners, each of whom will receive 5,000 pounds (6,800 U.S. dollars), were selected from 600 entries, and are now eligible for the ultimate prize, the 2017 Costa Book of the Year.
Inside the Wave explores the borderline between the living and the dead and includes Dunmore's final poem, Hold Out Your Arms, written shortly before her death. The poet died aged 64 of cancer in June 2017.
The judges described her collection as "an astonishing set of poems - a final, great achievement."
The Costa Book Awards are the only major UK book prize open solely to authors resident in the UK and Ireland and uniquely recognize the most enjoyable books across five categories published in the last year.
