JAKARTA, July 3 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.0 magnitude jolted central parts of Indonesia on Tuesday, but was not potential for tsunami, the meteorology and geophysics agency said.
The quake struck at 4:59 p.m. local time with epicenter situated at 240 km northwest Sangihe Islands of North Sulawesi province and a depth of 77 km under sea bed, official of the agency Pambagio said.
"For this quake, we did not unveil a warning for tsunami. And, so far, we have not received any reports of damage," he told Xinhua by phone.
Indonesia is prone to quakes as it lies on a vulnerable quake-affected zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire."
