ULAN BATOR, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian president and parliament speaker called for concrete measures to improve people's lives and make the economy more sustainable at the opening of the spring parliamentary session here Thursday.
In his opening speech, Mongolia's Parliament Speaker Miyegombo Enkhbold emphasized the need to move large-scale projects forward and expressed the parliament's readiness to address such issues.
The speaker also addressed the importance of maintaining the transparency, fairness and independence of law enforcement organizations.
Mongolian President Khaltmaa Battulga also spoke at the plenary session, appealing to lawmakers to prioritize people's livelihood, and fight economic inequality and corruption at all levels.
The parliament has convened its plenary session with a number of bills and resolutions on the agenda, including those on the 2019 state budget statement and the 2017 government financial report.
