NEW DELHI, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has been voted the country's most influential female politician in a new survey on International Women's Day.
Swaraj has pipped main opposition Congress party leader Sonia Gandhi and other women leaders to attain the top slot on the list of India's most influential female politicians that is compiled by leading discovery and commerce platform Magicpin.
Many attribute the popularity of 66-year-old Swaraj -- one of the most high-profile ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet -- to her quick reaction to calls for help from Indians living or travelling abroad.
Such is her popularity that many Indians took to social media to offer their kidneys to her in 2016 when she was admitted to a hospital in the Indian capital for dialysis after kidney failure.
